abode Apple HomeKit Compatibility Now Live!

Hello abode community!

Today is the big day! We’re very pleased to announce that Apple HomeKit support for iota, our all-in-one home security solution, is now live! abode community members can now integrate their abode iota system into the Home app for a single-app smart home & security experience.

iota is the first abode solution to achieve HomeKit Certification and is now accessible through the Home App on compatible Apple devices.

Once added to the Home app, the abode HomeKit integration supports the ability to arm or disarm the system, motion events triggered by abode motion sensors, and open/close events triggered by abode door/window sensors. Additionally, users can quickly and easily access live video from iota’s built-in streaming camera right through the Home app and ask Siri for the status of their system.

As of today, *any**abode-branded door/window sensors*, *any abode-branded occupancy sensor, and any* *abode-branded motion sensors purchased after December 2018 *paired to your iota will be automatically added to the Home app when you add your iota. Additional abode devices and sensors, including the Gen 2 and Gen 1 gateways, are being worked on to be certified by the Apple HomeKit team and added to their official certification list.

We’d like to thank each member of the abode community for their continued commitment, enthusiasm, and support! We understand many of you have been waiting a long time for this update and we’re thrilled to have the official green light from Apple to deliver this functionality to you.

If you currently do not use our iota gateway, don’t fret, we’re working with Apple to bring HomeKit functionality to our entire ecosystem!

An abode firmware update pushed live today gives all iota customers the ability to enroll their system into the Home app on their compatible Apple devices. To do so, ensure that you are running the most up-to-date version of our iOS app, update your firmware once prompted, and navigate to settings within the abode app to generate a HomeKit code.
